If you are considering a start-up, or if you already a part of one of Florida's small businesses, the Gala is a can't miss event for you.
Gov. Charlie Crist's office of economic development is leading a new effort to re-focus state strategy on cultivating Florida's small businesses and reinventing its climate for entrepreneurialism. ITFlorida is coordinating the IT community's role in this strategy and will emphasize three new opportunities during this year's Gala event:
1) The Institute for the Commercialization of Public Research. This new state funded entity is creating start-ups, which will attract venture capital all across the state and in all fields, especially IT and Bio. The Institute is searching for entrepreneurs who are interested in starting companies and will help these entrepreneurs find the technologies and gain access to capital.
Gala attendees can meet with the Institute's executive director on site to learn about specific opportunities.
2) Project Green Jeans. Dr. Dale Brill, the Director of the Governor's office of economic development, will present during the Economic Gardening panel. The Governor's office has launched Project Green Jeans, a pilot program on Florida's Treasure Coast which connects small businesses, economic developers, and IT companies together in ways to produce stronger local economies.
Dr. Brill is looking for new communities to launch a second generation of this program and at the Gala will provide feedback on the criteria for qualifying.3) The Florida 2.0 Initiative. Born at the ITFlorida Gala last year, this exciting new initiative is intended to enhance Florida's marketplace through latest generation web technologies and prepare for the next revolutions on the web.
The sixth annual
ITFlorida Awards Gala and Tech Forum is right around the corner. Many of Florida's brightest innovators will be present as finalists and winners for the
ITFlorida Awards program.
